There is no native ShareMe for PC app, but you do not need one to move files from your phone to a computer. The app’s built-in Share to PC mode starts an FTP address that Windows File Explorer opens directly over Wi-Fi. Install ShareMe from Google Play, tap Share to PC, and type the address into Explorer. Done.

First, status: ShareMe is alive. Xiaomi renamed Mi Drop to ShareMe back in 2019 and has kept shipping updates since, including one in June 2026. It remains Android only. There is no ShareMe app for Windows, macOS or iPhone, and there never has been.

The official way to use ShareMe with a PC: Share to PC mode

This is the feature most “ShareMe for PC” guides bury under emulator instructions, yet it is the whole answer for phone to PC transfers. ShareMe can turn your phone into a temporary FTP server on your home network, and Windows needs zero extra software to read it.

1. Install ShareMe on your phone from Google Play.
2. Connect the phone and the PC to the same Wi-Fi network.
3. In ShareMe, open the menu and tap Share to PC (labelled Connect to computer in some versions), then tap Start.
4. The app shows an address like ftp://192.168.1.5:2121. Type that address into the address bar of Windows File Explorer, or Finder on a Mac.
5. Your phone storage opens like a normal folder. Drag files in either direction. When you finish, tap Stop in the app.

Two tips: choose the password protected mode if other people use your network, and note that the address changes between sessions, so check it in the app each time. Because the PC side is plain File Explorer, this works on any Windows version, including older Windows 7 machines, and needs no 32 bit or 64 bit installer.

Install ShareMe on Windows with an emulator

You can run the full Android app on your PC through an emulator, and it works, but be clear about what you get: an Android device on your desktop that other phones can beam files to. Files land inside the emulator’s storage, not straight into your Windows folders, so you need one extra hop through a shared folder.

1. Install BlueStacks and sign in to the Play Store.
2. Install ShareMe from the Play Store listing (publisher Xiaomi Inc., package com.xiaomi.midrop).
3. Open ShareMe, skip the sign-in prompts if offered, and grant storage permission.
4. To receive from a phone: tap Receive in the emulator’s ShareMe, tap Send on the phone, and connect to the hotspot name shown. Both ShareMe instances must be on the same network.
5. Received files sit in the emulator’s Download or ShareMe folder. Use the BlueStacks media manager or shared Windows folder to pull them into Windows proper.

Honest assessment: for plain phone to PC transfers this route is slower to set up and clunkier than the FTP mode above, and it burns RAM running a whole Android system. Use the emulator only if you already keep one running for other apps from our utility apps for PC hub.

When something else beats ShareMe

ShareMe is good, but on a Windows PC it is often not the best tool for the job:

• Quick Share for Windows. Google ships an official Quick Share app for Windows 10 and 11 (get it from android.com, the Better Together page). Since Quick Share is already built into Android 6 and newer, this gives you native phone to PC sharing with no FTP addresses at all. For most people this is the cleanest wireless option in 2026.
• A USB cable. For big folders, video projects, or full backups, plugging in and dragging files in File Explorer is still the fastest and most reliable method. No app matches cable speed on multi-gigabyte jobs.
• Windows Nearby sharing. Built into Windows, but note it only works PC to PC, not phone to PC, which is why it does not replace ShareMe by itself.
• LocalSend. A free open source AirDrop-style app with native Windows, Mac, Linux, Android and iOS versions. The right pick if you also need iPhone transfers, which ShareMe cannot do.

Speed depends entirely on your Wi-Fi. Move both devices closer to the router, prefer the 5 GHz band, and avoid transferring while streaming video on the same network. For anything over a few gigabytes, use a cable.

Skip the emulator unless you have a specific reason for it. The genuinely useful ShareMe on PC setup is the app’s own Share to PC mode plus File Explorer, and it takes under a minute. For everyday wireless sharing between Android and Windows, install Google’s official Quick Share for Windows and you may stop opening ShareMe altogether. For huge transfers, the old USB cable still wins.
