PdaNet+ is different from almost every other app we cover: the PC side is the whole point. The app shares your Android phone’s internet connection with a computer, so it ships in two halves. One half is the Android app you install from Google Play. The other half is the PdaNet desktop client for Windows, published by the same developer at pdanet.co. The two talk to each other directly. There is no emulator involved, and running PdaNet inside an emulator would be pointless because an emulator cannot tether anything.
The current release is 5.23.2 on both sides, and the developer is explicit that the phone app and the computer client must both be on the same version. If tethering suddenly stops working after a phone update, mismatched versions are the first thing to check.
That page carries every official installer: the Google Play link for the phone, the Windows client exe, and the Mac client. One common confusion is worth clearing up: you never need a PdaNet APK for your PC. The APK is the Android package for the phone side, and Google Play is the right place to get it. The computer side is a normal Windows program, not an APK.
Set up PdaNet on Windows step by step
On your Android phone, install PdaNet+ from Google Play (search PdaNet+ by JFTech).

USB is the mode most people should use. It is the fastest, it charges the phone while you work, and it is the least likely to be throttled or blocked. WiFi Direct Hotspot is convenient when you cannot plug in, and it is the mode that pairs with the Windows client when the normal Android hotspot is restricted by your plan. Bluetooth DUN exists for edge cases and is slow, so treat it as a last resort. One honest caveat from the developer’s own purchase terms: carriers change things, and a phone system update can break tethering behavior. PdaNet has kept up so far (Android 11 support landed in 5.23.2), but if your setup breaks after a major phone update, check pdanet.co for a client update before blaming your PC.
PdaNet on Mac and Chromebook
Searches for PdaNet on a Mac or Chromebook come up often, and both have real answers. The official download page still offers a Mac OS X desktop client for USB mode, though the Windows client is the actively maintained one. On a Chromebook you skip the desktop client entirely: install the same PdaNet+ Android app from Google Play on the Chromebook itself, exactly as you would on an Android tablet.
Free version vs full license
PdaNet+ is free to install and try, but the free edition interrupts your connection periodically and makes you turn it back on. A full license removes that limit. As of July 2026 the developer lists a single license at $14.94, discounted to $7.95 at the time we checked, purchased through Google Play. Most guides for this search send you straight to BlueStacks. That is outdated advice. EZVIZ maintains a real desktop program, listed on its official download center as EZVIZ PC Studio software, and it is the better tool for watching cameras on a monitor. It is free, it uses the same EZVIZ account as your phone app, and it does not carry the overhead of running a whole Android system just to open a video stream.
Here is how to set it up:
Open the EZVIZ download center at support.ezviz.com/download and scroll to the Windows PC software section.
Download the EZVIZ Studio installer and run it. Accept the prompts and let it finish.
Launch EZVIZ Studio and sign in with the same email or phone number you use in the EZVIZ mobile app. Pick the same region you chose when you registered, otherwise your device list will come up empty.
Your cameras load automatically. Click any camera for live view, or open the playback section to review recordings from the SD card or your CloudPlay subscription.
One honest limitation: brand new cameras are easiest to set up from the phone app, because the pairing process is built around scanning the QR code on the device with your phone. The practical workflow is to add the camera on your phone once, then do all your day to day viewing in EZVIZ Studio on the PC.
What about Mac?
EZVIZ Studio is Windows only. EZVIZ does not publish a native macOS desktop client, so Mac users have two realistic options: keep using the mobile app on a phone or iPad, or run the Android app inside an Android emulator on the Mac. The emulator steps below work the same way on macOS builds of BlueStacks.
Install EZVIZ on Windows with an emulator
The emulator route still makes sense in one case: you want the exact mobile app interface, including mobile-only screens like device setup wizards and smart home integrations. Here is the clean way to do it:
Install BlueStacks and sign in to the Play Store with a Google account.
Search the Play Store for EZVIZ (package com.ezviz, published by EZVIZ) and install it. Use the Play Store listing only, never an APK mirror, since this app has access to your home cameras.
Open EZVIZ, select your region carefully, and sign in. If the app says the account does not exist, the region does not match the one you registered under.
Allow notification permission if you want motion alerts to pop up while the emulator is running.
