Short version of our Avast Driver Updater review: it is a legitimate tool that works as advertised and backs up drivers before changing them, but most Windows users do not need it. Windows Update plus the free tools from NVIDIA, AMD, Intel and your PC maker cover the same job at no cost.

What is Avast Driver Updater?

Avast Driver Updater is a paid Windows utility from Avast (now part of Gen Digital) that scans your PC for outdated device drivers and updates them automatically. It targets the usual suspects: graphics, audio, network and printer drivers. It is sold as a subscription; current pricing is listed on avast.com.

What it does well

  • Simple one-click scanning that non-technical users can follow
  • Creates driver backups before updating, so you can roll back if something breaks
  • Pulls drivers from a large database and installs them one at a time to reduce conflicts

The honest problem: most people do not need it

Windows 10 and 11 already install and update drivers through Windows Update, and the drivers that actually matter for performance come free from the hardware makers themselves:

  • Graphics: NVIDIA, AMD and Intel each provide free tools that keep GPU drivers current
  • Chipset and laptop drivers: your PC or motherboard manufacturer’s support page provides them at no cost
  • Everything else: Windows Update handles it silently

A paid driver updater mainly buys convenience: one dashboard instead of two or three vendor tools. If your PC works fine, updating drivers for the sake of it can even introduce new problems.   • Someone maintaining an older PC with obscure hardware whose vendor tools no longer exist
  • Users who want driver backups and one-at-a-time installs without doing it manually

Is there a legitimate free option?

Avast offers a trial version that scans and shows what is outdated, but updating through it requires a paid subscription. The legitimate free path is the one described above: Windows Update plus your hardware vendors’ own tools. There is no legal way to unlock the full product for free, and we do not recommend looking for one.

Mostly branding. Avast has owned AVG since 2016, and both brands now sit under the same parent company, Gen Digital, so the two driver updaters offer near identical features and interfaces at similar prices. If you already pay for one company’s security bundle, check whether it includes the driver updater before buying either one separately.

Our verdict

Avast Driver Updater is a competent convenience tool, not a necessity. If you want hands-off driver maintenance with backups and are happy to pay for it, it does the job. Most users are better served by Windows Update and their hardware makers’ free tools. Either way, activate software legitimately: it is the only option that is legal, safe and permanent. VidMix for PC: there is no official way to download the original VidMix app for PC in 2026. The video downloader was removed from Google Play years ago, its old website no longer distributes it, and the copies on APK sites are a build that has not changed in roughly five years. Newer apps called VidMix on official stores are different products from different developers.

What VidMix was

VidMix was a free Android app from the same wave as VideoBuddy: one part streaming hub, one part downloader. You could browse movies and series inside the app, paste links from sites like YouTube, Instagram, and Dailymotion to save videos locally, and even earn small coin rewards for watching and inviting friends. Because it was an Android app, people ran it on Windows and Mac through an Android emulator, which is why searches for VidMix for PC were popular for years.

Where VidMix stands in 2026

The honest status, checked in August 2026:

  • Not on Google Play. Downloader apps that pull videos from YouTube violate Play policies, so VidMix, like VidMate and TubeMate, was never going to live there long term. The original app has no Play listing today.
  • No official website build. The vidmix.app domain now hosts an unrelated online video editor. There is no official download page for the old downloader app.
  • Abandoned code. Third party APK catalogs still list VidMix at version 2.21, the same version number this page recorded back in 2021. Five years without an update means no security fixes and, for an app that depends on its own servers, sources that increasingly fail to load.
  • The name has been recycled. The Vidmix you will find on Google Play today is an AI video and portrait maker from a different developer, and the VidMix Video Editor in the Microsoft Store is a separate editing tool. Neither is the downloader people are searching for, so do not pay for or install them expecting VidMix’s old features.

Why we do not link VidMix APK files

We only link official sources, and VidMix no longer has one. APK mirrors hosting a five year old, unsigned build are a real risk: repacked installers with injected ads or worse are common for exactly this kind of orphaned app. On top of the safety problem, downloading videos from YouTube and similar platforms outside their own apps is against those platforms’ terms of service. OkCredit is the digital bahi khata app millions of Indian shopkeepers use to track udhar, and the company itself solved the PC question. Merchant Web at web.okcredit.in is OkCredit’s own browser version, so there is nothing to download, no APK, and no emulator involved.

  1. Open web.okcredit.in in Chrome, Edge, or any current browser on your computer.
  2. Sign in with the mobile number you use in the OkCredit app, and confirm the login on your phone when prompted.
  3. Your customer khata opens in the browser, synced with the same account the phone app uses.

For a shopkeeper this is the setup that actually makes sense: entries are faster with a full keyboard, the ledger is easier to read on a monitor, and whatever you record at the counter on your phone stays in sync because both sides use one OkCredit account.

iSmartViewPro for PC: 2026 Status and What to Use Instead

Honest answer first: iSmartViewPro looks abandoned in 2026. The Android app has been removed from Google Play, and Sricam’s official download center now only offers the newer SriHome app for its cameras. There is no official iSmartViewPro Windows download anymore, so a PC setup today means the SriHome app in an emulator or an RTSP stream in VLC.

What happened to iSmartViewPro

iSmartViewPro was the companion app for Sricam IP cameras, and for years it also had a desktop build that shipped on the Sricam site. Both are gone from official channels. The Play Store listing returns a not found error, and the download center at sricam.com currently lists product manuals plus the SriHome app for iOS and Android, nothing else. The iSmartViewPro installers still floating around are on third party mirror sites, which we do not link and do not recommend: you cannot verify what is inside an orphaned installer.

The official route in 2026: SriHome

Sricam’s active app is SriHome, and the official place to get it is the vendor’s own download center. If your camera is a Sricam model, try adding it to SriHome first; the newer app covers the current hardware range. Note that no Windows client is listed there either at the time of writing, so the desktop story for Sricam owners is the emulator route below.

  2. Install SriHome from the Play Store inside the emulator and sign in or register.
  3. Add the camera with its device ID rather than the QR scanner, which behaves badly through a virtual webcam.
  4. If your older camera is not accepted by SriHome and only ever worked with iSmartViewPro, an existing phone install is worth keeping alive while you plan a replacement.

One security note while you are in transition: a camera whose app was abandoned is also a camera whose firmware stopped getting patches years ago. Keep it off port forwarding, give it a strong local password if the settings allow one, and put it on a guest network if your router supports that.
