Straight answer: DiGit CAM looks abandoned. The Android app is no longer on Google Play, the iOS version has not been updated since September 2020, and there was never an official Windows client. If you still run a DiGit CAM camera, your practical options on a PC are an RTSP stream in VLC if your model supports it, or migrating to a maintained app.

We checked the official channels in July 2026. The Google Play listing returns a not found error. The Apple App Store listing still exists but shows version 1.1.7 from September 2020, which means almost six years without an update for an app that talks to cameras over the internet. There is no developer site offering a desktop build. Old APK files circulate on mirror sites; we do not link them, because sideloading a six year old surveillance app is a bad trade even when it installs.
Apps like DiGit CAM stream through vendor relay servers. Installs that are already on a phone may keep working while those servers stay online, but that can end any day without an announcement, and there will be no fix when it does. Treat a working DiGit CAM setup as borrowed time and plan the move now rather than after the feed goes dark.
DiGit CAM was a companion app for generic white label cameras, so the brand on the box rarely tells you who built the unit. Two quick checks help. Look for a model code on the sticker under the camera or on its base, and search that code together with the word RTSP. Then check your router’s client list for the camera’s entry: the listed manufacturer of its network chip often reveals the real maker, which in turn points at whichever current app their hardware moved to. Ten minutes of this beats guessing at replacement apps.
Community camera databases list RTSP details for some Digitcam era hardware, which means a number of these cameras can stream to a PC without any vendor app. It costs nothing to test: find the camera’s IP address in your router’s client list, open VLC on Windows, pick Media and then Open Network Stream, and try an RTSP address on port 554 using the URL pattern listed for your model in a database like iSpyConnect or Camlytics. If the stream opens, VLC or any Windows NVR program can record it, and the dead app stops mattering. If your unit is P2P only, no RTSP URL will work, and replacement is the honest recommendation.

The fastest route on any computer is the official web portal at hik-connect.com. Sign in with the same email or phone number you use in the mobile app and your added devices appear in the browser for live view and device management. It works on Windows 7, 10 and 11 alike because it is just a website, which also makes it the only sane option on a work laptop where you cannot install software. If the main site does not load in your region, isa.hik-connect.com is the same portal on Hikvision’s international server. iVMS-4200 is Hikvision’s free video management client for Windows and macOS, and it is what Hikvision itself points desktop users to. The official download page on hikvision.com currently lists version 3.14, and the core features need no licence. Inside iVMS-4200 you can log in with your Hik-Connect account so your cloud added cameras appear automatically, or add devices directly by IP address on your local network. You get proper multi channel live view, playback, downloads of footage and event management, all things the mobile app and web portal only do in a limited way.

If you specifically want the mobile app experience on your PC, run the Android app in an emulator. It works, but treat it as the last resort: it uses the most resources of the three routes for the least capability.
Notifications only arrive while the emulator is running, so do not rely on this setup for alarm alerts.
Device shows offline on PC but works on your phone. Cloud access has to be switched on in the device itself. In your recorder or camera’s network settings, find the platform access or Hik-Connect option and make sure it is enabled and shows an online status, then log out and back in on the PC side.
Live view asks for a verification code. That is the stream encryption code, not your account password. It is printed on the device sticker, or you can view or change it in the mobile app’s device settings.
The web portal shows a loading error. The portal is fussy about old browsers. Use a current version of Chrome or Edge, and try isa.hik-connect.com if your regional server misbehaves.

CMS stands for Control Management Software, and it is Night Owl’s own desktop program. It gives you live view of every channel, playback of recordings, and the option to save video and snapshots straight to your computer. Night Owl hosts the installer on its official support site, so there is no reason to touch third party download portals.
One requirement matters: set your system up in the mobile app first. The CMS logs in with the same email and password you created there. If the CMS cannot find your system afterwards, check that the recorder is actually online, that its firmware is current, and that you typed the exact same credentials. A restart of the DVR or NVR fixes most stubborn connection failures.
Get Night Owl CMS (official support site)
Night Owl runs two app generations side by side in 2026. Night Owl Protect is the current one: the Android app was updated in July 2026 and all new hardware ships on it. Night Owl Connect is the older generation. It is still supported and still listed on Google Play, but its last update was April 2024, so treat it as maintenance mode.
The cutoff that actually bit people came on June 1, 2026, when Night Owl ended support for the even older Night Owl Pro, Lite, and HD apps and the products that depend on them. If your recorder was tied to one of those three, no PC guide can revive it. For everything else, match the generation: Protect systems use the Protect CMS linked above, and Connect era systems have their own Connect CMS on the legacy pages of the same support site.
The emulator route only makes sense if you specifically want the mobile app experience on your laptop, for example the app style push notifications. Otherwise the CMS is simply better on a desktop.
