WorldBox for PC: Official Steam Version and Free Emulator Route

WorldBox for PC is an official product. It is sold on Steam as WorldBox – God Simulator for Windows, macOS, and Linux, priced at 19.99 USD in the US store with regional pricing elsewhere. No emulator is needed for it. The free Android version can still run on PC through BlueStacks if you prefer the mobile build.

App name WorldBox – God Simulator (PC) / WorldBox – Sandbox God Sim (Android)
Developer Maxim Karpenko
Category Sandbox god simulator
Works on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), macOS 10.14+, Linux
Official source Steam and Google Play
Last verified July 2026

The official way to get WorldBox on PC

Unlike most mobile games we cover, WorldBox does not need an emulator at all. Developer Maxim Karpenko sells a native desktop version on Steam, released into Early Access on December 2, 2021, and it supports Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), macOS 10.14 and newer, and Linux. It costs 19.99 USD on the US store; Steam applies regional pricing, so in India it currently shows at Rs 880.

Yes, it is still labeled Early Access in July 2026, but do not let that scare you off. The game receives regular updates, carries an Overwhelmingly Positive rating from tens of thousands of Steam reviews, and the developer continues to build out systems like civilizations, wars, and diplomacy. Early Access here means “still growing”, not “abandoned”. One buying tip: purchase on Steam itself rather than from third-party key resellers, since gray-market keys are not sold by the developer and Steam will not stand behind them.

Get WorldBox (Steam)

Steam version vs the free Android version

Both versions are the same core idea: a pixel-art sandbox where you spawn humans, orcs, elves, and dwarves, shape terrain, and then either nurture your world or flatten it with volcanoes, plagues, and nukes. The differences are in how you pay and how you play.

  • Steam version: one-time purchase, everything unlocked, native keyboard and mouse controls, and no ads. The PC build is also where the community modding scene lives, so if you have seen modded WorldBox videos, this is the version behind them.
  • Android version: free to download, with some powers and traits gated behind ads or a one-time premium unlock inside the app. It is a genuinely good free game, which is why it has passed tens of millions of downloads on Google Play.

Note that the two purchases are separate. Buying the premium unlock on mobile does not give you the Steam game, and buying on Steam does not unlock mobile premium.

Install WorldBox on Windows with an emulator

If you want the free mobile build on your PC, or you already paid for premium on your phone, the emulator route still works fine.

  1. Install BlueStacks from bluestacks.com. Our BlueStacks for PC guide walks through the setup if you have never used an emulator.
  2. Open BlueStacks and sign in with the same Google account you use on your phone, so any premium purchase you already made carries over.
  3. Open the Play Store inside the emulator and search for “WorldBox – Sandbox God Sim” by Maxim Karpenko. It is a small download, well under 200 MB.
  4. Install and launch. The mouse acts as your finger: click to use the selected power, hold and drag to paint terrain, and use Ctrl plus the scroll wheel to pinch-zoom the map.
  5. WorldBox is not demanding, so the default BlueStacks performance settings are enough. No keymapping is needed for a game built around tapping and dragging.

Which version should you actually pick?

If you searched “WorldBox for PC” because you want to sink real hours into giant maps, wars, and mods, buy the Steam version. It is the official desktop product, it plays better with a mouse at native resolution, and updates land there without emulator quirks. The emulator route makes sense in exactly two cases: you want to try the game for free before spending money, or you already invested in the mobile premium unlock and want that same version on a bigger screen.

Sandbox fans have plenty more to run through the same BlueStacks install. Minecraft Pocket Edition and Granny are two popular picks, and our Android games for PC hub has the full list.

Frequently asked questions

Is WorldBox free on PC?

The official Steam version is a paid game at 19.99 USD (regional pricing applies). The only free way to play on PC is running the free Android version in an emulator, with its usual mobile limitations.

Is the Steam version finished?

It is still in Early Access as of July 2026, but it is actively developed, regularly updated, and holds an Overwhelmingly Positive review rating. It is fully playable today.

Does buying premium on mobile unlock the Steam version?

No. The mobile premium unlock and the Steam purchase are separate products on separate stores, and neither unlocks the other.

Does WorldBox have multiplayer?

No. WorldBox is a single-player sandbox. You watch your own world evolve; there is no online mode.

Is WorldBox a Russian game?

Yes, by origin. WorldBox was created by Russian indie developer Maxim Karpenko, who started it as a Flash prototype back in 2011 before the mobile and Steam releases. It is self-published and sold worldwide through Steam and Google Play.

Verdict: WorldBox is one of the rare cases where the honest answer is simply “buy the real PC version”. Get WorldBox – God Simulator on Steam if the price fits your budget, and keep the BlueStacks route as a free trial or as a way to reuse a mobile premium purchase. Either way, you never need a shady “WorldBox PC download” from a random site.
